The Eye Has It

I got to sleep in today because I had an eye doctor's appointment at 10:30. I read an issue of Smithsonian Magazine as I waited, and then it was a $150 exam (no insurance), and $90 for six months of contacts. And oh yeah, I had my pupils dilated:

Then it was home, and I got the rest of the day off because due the dilation I couldn't read for a few hours, nor be in a dust-filled environment (Whoo-HOO!). So I ate the rest of yesterday's pizza with ice tea, as I watched "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" with Chumble sleeping by my side.

After that it was online for awhile, with Echosmith's latest EP "Inside a Dream" on repeat in  my headphones. They are coming to the Royale on April 26th, and I just snagged three tickets.
Then I did some more work on my sunburst monster.

More Deliveries

Amazon: I have always wanted to play Dungeons & Dragons with my nephews & nieces, but thought it might be a bit too complicated with my old books. So I got the Starter Set for less than sixteen bucks. Also, I snagged a few ridiculously inexpensive character figures from Funko Pop's Rock Candy line.

L.L.Bean: I got an amazing green & blue chamois shirt, which I'll wear to Easter brunch, and then keep in my long sleeve shirt rotation until it gets too warm outside.

Deliveries

Several things arrived yesterday, one early, and two late:

  •  Early (one day): my new bed frame! I am buying a new queen mattress, and I found a high frame that is boxspring-not-needed, for less than a hundred bucks.
  • Late (two days): My Amazon order of another Robert Silverberg book, "The Ace Years: Part Two"; and a silly but cool, greenish Hawaiian shirt.
Side Note: Also, a few days ago I snagged two tickets to the Turnover concert at The Sinclair on Sunday April 29th...

Winter Storm Skylar

Today's weather-related day off (Winter Storm Skylar) began slowly, with there being only 3 inches of snow on the ground when I got up at 9:30-ish.

You can see how much it had changed by 2:00  pm!

Close to 14 inches at 2:00 pm.

View from my opened front door.

I went outside to shovel around 6:00 pm, and to my surprise the snow was light and fluffy! it made shoveling the 18 inches of accumulation pretty darn easy...

The height of the snowplowed pile - my eyebrows!

Another view of that pile.

Worcester Days

For the next two months I'll be doing resets in 15 of the district's 16 stores. There was supposed to be a 5-person team, but so far me and Ashland's manager are the only two constants, with other help coming and going from day to day. This past week I spent time in two of the Worcester stores.

Chandler Street has a great back room, and they have 4 registers, but the store itself is a dump. I spent Monday and Tuesday there.
Main Street has a horrible back room, but they have an amazingly clean store with fantastic stone floors and epic bathrooms (haha). I was there on Wednesday, and then Winter Storm Quinn interupted, so I went back Friday and today, with a half day more scheduled for Monday.

Tuesday circa 5:30 pm, drive home.

Wednesday circa 11:30 am, drive home (racing WS Quinn).

Saturday circa 8:45 am, drive in.

Quinn More

I got up at 6:45 am for a minute, and took more photos of Winter Storm Quinn. As you can see the snow tally at that time was nearly 13 inches. It's 10:45 am now, and the snow is still falling, albeit lightly. I'm quite enjoying the silence that a heavy snow accumulation creates. No voices, just muffled traffic...

Winter Storm Quinn

...is my friend. I had to go into work in Worcester today, but I put in 3 hours and then beat the storm back home. It was actually snowing there, but not here until later in the day, but I'm glad my early exit was pre-planned yesterday with my DM. We are supposed to get up to 18 inches through the night.

Sierra Trading

The stuff that I ordered from Sierra Trading Post arrived today. Two pairs of jeans, a nice dress shirt, and a henley. Everything was so ridiculously inexpensive (the henley was $7 and one pair of jeans was $17) that I couldn't pass them up.
