Project Art I

I worked on the male warrior character. After drawing him I decided to name him Benvolio.

Enough Already

I awoke today to this snowy scene, and the snow lasted a good part of the day, with about an inch of accumulation on cold surfaces (my car and the steps).

Winter Storm Skylar

Today's weather-related day off (Winter Storm Skylar) began slowly, with there being only 3 inches of snow on the ground when I got up at 9:30-ish.

You can see how much it had changed by 2:00  pm!

Close to 14 inches at 2:00 pm.

View from my opened front door.

I went outside to shovel around 6:00 pm, and to my surprise the snow was light and fluffy! it made shoveling the 18 inches of accumulation pretty darn easy...

The height of the snowplowed pile - my eyebrows!

Another view of that pile.

Quinn More

I got up at 6:45 am for a minute, and took more photos of Winter Storm Quinn. As you can see the snow tally at that time was nearly 13 inches. It's 10:45 am now, and the snow is still falling, albeit lightly. I'm quite enjoying the silence that a heavy snow accumulation creates. No voices, just muffled traffic...

Winter Storm Quinn

...is my friend. I had to go into work in Worcester today, but I put in 3 hours and then beat the storm back home. It was actually snowing there, but not here until later in the day, but I'm glad my early exit was pre-planned yesterday with my DM. We are supposed to get up to 18 inches through the night.

Productive: Art

I spent part of the afternoon inking an outline (see the Hulk's fist on the left for a comparable base image) of Iron Man from a sticker/activity book, and then coloring it in my preferred colors (I love a blue & silver color scheme).

And then later when the snow from Winter Storm Noah began, I drew this cartoon of Noah and his ark, skidding madly down a snowy slope. As usual, I include both the 'indoor' and 'aquarium' filters on my camera.

Winter Storm Liam

...Gave me a day off! We got 5 inches of snow, with icy roads, and no plow until late. So I called Clinton and didn't have to go into work.

I had cold pizza for lunch and cold chicken for supper. In between and after, I drew another challenge entry (see: Balsa Wood Tree House). It was fantastic to not have to be anywhere today, especially since I have tomorrow off as well.

At the tail end of the day I watched "The Amazing Race" and crammed in the last 2 drawings for Week 1 of the challenge.

Basically I spent the entire day drawing!

Day Off: 4*4

I slept in until 9:30 am (I was up reading until 3:00 am or so), and then had a banana, cereal and coffee for breakfast as I watched a new documentary on the 1972 Andes Mountains plane crash. Around 11:30 I went outside in the bracing cold to shovel and clean off/move my car. The snow was so light & fluffy that it took less than ten minutes, although the wind was so intense that my fingers were frozen by the time I went back inside. At least it was sunny out, with a bright blue sky!

And the mailman delivered my Barnes & Noble order: "Legion of Super-Heroes: The Silver Age Omnibus", nearly 700 pages of comics from the team's earliest years, in amazing color, all under a hard cover.

Lunch was sausage and bread & butter. At around 1:30 pm I headed out to the ATM and Market Basket (cat litter, bread, Boylan's Black Cherry Soda). DAMN, it was cold with that wind! I walked across the street around 4:30 for a few mega Millions tickets, since the jackpot is well over $400 k. Then I did dishes and laundry, and watched sports tv. Then I cooked 2 boneless pork chops and made rice for dinner (along with one of the sodas) while I watched "Brooklyn 99" and part of "Jurassic World". At 9:30 pm I watched "Bright" (not bad) on Netflix, and then I showered.

Day Off: 3*4

I got up just before 9:00 am and promptly moved my car to Jean Marie's vacated spot, to avoid any troubles with the plows later. Breakfast was a banana, cereal and coffee. I watched "A Charlie Brown Christmas" (finally - I was saving it for a super-snowy day), and had the tail end of "Star Trek VI" on in the background while I texted Ma & Sarah, and played "Clash of Clans" and Boom Beach".

Snow begins...

It's now 1:00 pm and I just measured Winter Storm Grayson's snow total outside my door, and it's at 10 inches!

Ten inches, viewed from my doorway.

I spent the middle of the day online, and I did a little drawing. Also I made mac & cheese & ground beef for a late lunch. Right around dark I measured the snow one last time, and it was at fourteen inches. Crazy! And it was blustery with high winds all day too.

The yardstick does not lie!
I had coffee and apple pie for supper (9:00 pm) as I watched the latest "Big Bang Theory", sports tv, and "Iron Man 2". Then at 1:00 am I took a shower, and went online to order some lined moccasins from L.L.Bean with my $50 Christmas gift card (from Dad & Ma). Also I went on Amazon with my $25 gift card (from J & Stacie) to get a Robert Silverberg story collection and a couple of silly Star Wars toys. Sweet!

Christmas Day

I allowed myself to sleep in today (9:30 am). I awoke to a mere 4 inches of snow (so much for 5"-10"). it made the view of the land look very pretty though.

I had to decide on what kind of coffee to have with my banana and mini-brownies, and I went with the Philz Tesora - SO good!

I watched "Mickey's Christmas Carol" and "Good Morning Football", and when I had "A Very Happy Yule Log" on, Chumble thought the kittens were real!

The plow guy came by and whisked away the snow. I washed a sink full of dishes. And I went on Amazon to use part of my $50 gift card.

Winter Storm Benji

I woke up at 9:00 am, thinking I would be greeted by a Winter Wonderland outside of my windows, but alas, the snow was nowhere to be seen until around noon.

I had coffee & bacon for breakfast as I sorted through my photo box for old pictures from family trips at the tail end of the 1980's to Papoose Pond in North Waterford, Maine. I had the Music Choice jazz channel on while I searched, and it was actually the background to most of my day.

I was online in the middle of the day, online Christmas shopping and playing games. I worked out in between rounds. Supper was Ragu, angel hair pasta and ground beef. I watched a few episodes of "Friends" (around the Chandler & Kathy era, and the apartment bet). Then I dug out my Christmas decorations and put most of them up except for the lights.

It's around 8:30 pm now, and there is 4½"of snow in my driveway...
